Ductless Services We Provide

New Ductless Mini Split Installation

We install systems in additions, older homes, and areas your current setup can’t handle. Everything is planned around the space—placement, sizing, and configuration—so it actually performs the way it should.

Ductless Replacement and Upgrades

If your existing unit isn’t keeping up or has started having issues, we’ll evaluate what’s there and recommend a replacement that fits your home and usage. Newer systems are more efficient and provide better control across multiple areas.

Ductless Mini Split Repair and Diagnostics

When something isn’t working right—poor cooling, leaks, strange noises—we diagnose the issue and fix it at the source. These systems are sensitive to setup and components, so proper troubleshooting matters.

Routine Ductless Maintenance and Tune-Ups

Regular service helps keep everything running efficiently and prevents common issues during peak use. We check system performance, clean components, and make sure everything is operating the way it should.

Ductless Systems We Install

Heating & AC Systems
(Heat Pump Systems) These are the most common setups. They provide both heating and cooling, making them a year-round solution for spaces that need consistent comfort without relying on a central system.

Cooling-Only Systems
For areas that only need cooling—like certain additions or spaces with existing heat—these systems focus strictly on air conditioning without the added heating function.

Single-Zone Systems
Designed to control one specific area, such as a bedroom, office, or finished basement. This is a simple, efficient option when you’re solving comfort issues in a single space.

Multi-Zone Systems
One outdoor unit connected to multiple indoor units, allowing you to control temperatures in different rooms independently. Ideal for larger homes or multiple problem areas.

Hybrid Setups
In some homes, ductless systems are used alongside existing HVAC equipment. This allows you to supplement your current system and address areas it can’t properly condition.

Ductless Mini-Split Cost & Financing

Cost depends on how many areas you want to condition and how the system needs to be set up. A single-room install is simpler. Multi-zone systems cost more due to added equipment and labor. We don’t price off square footage alone. We look at the space and design the system correctly so it performs the way it should.

Financing is available, so you can install now and pay over time with manageable monthly payments. For an exact price, we need to see the space. We’ll walk it, explain your options, and give you a clear number.

What to Expect During Ductless Mini-Split Installation

1 – We start by laying out the placement
First thing we do is look at the space and decide where the indoor unit will actually work best. It’s not just about where it fits—it’s about how the air will move through the room so you don’t end up with hot or cold spots.

2 – Mounting the indoor unit, running the line set
We mount the unit on the wall and run a small line set to the outdoor unit. That includes refrigerant lines, electrical, and a drain. It goes through a small opening in the wall and we seal it up clean when we’re done.

3 – Setting the outdoor unit
Outside, we place the condenser in a stable spot with proper clearance so it can run efficiently and be serviced easily down the line.

4 – Making all connections and dialing it in
This is where experience matters. We connect everything, set refrigerant levels, and make sure the system is configured correctly for the space. If it’s not set up right here, it won’t perform the way it should.

5 – Startup and performance check
We run the system, check temperatures, airflow, and make sure everything is operating the way it’s supposed to before we wrap up.

6 – Quick walkthrough before we leave
We’ll show you how to use it, what to keep an eye on, and how to maintain it so you’re not guessing later.

Common Mini-Split Repairs We Handle

Ductless systems are reliable, but in Connecticut’s climate—humid summers, cold winters, and constant switching between heating and cooling—they take a beating. These are the issues we see most often:

  • Poor cooling or heating output. Low refrigerant, dirty coils, or airflow restrictions can keep the system from reaching the set temperature.
  • Water leaks from the indoor unit. Clogged condensate lines are common, especially during humid summer months when the system is pulling a lot of moisture out of the air.
  • System not turning on or shutting down unexpectedly. Electrical issues, sensor problems, or communication faults between indoor and outdoor units can cause the system to stop running.
  • Weak airflow or uneven performance. Blocked filters, buildup on components, or improper setup can limit how well air moves through the space.
  • Unusual noises or vibration. Rattling, buzzing, or clicking sounds usually point to loose components, fan issues, or wear inside the unit.
  • Ice buildup on the system. Seen during both cooling and heating modes—often caused by airflow problems or refrigerant issues that need to be addressed.

Ductless System Maintenance

These systems run a lot in this area—cooling through humid summers and then switching over to heat in the winter—so they don’t get much of a break.

What we see most around homes in Fairfield County and New Haven counties is buildup from humidity. The system is constantly pulling moisture out of the air, and if filters and drains aren’t kept up, that’s when you start getting water leaks, weak airflow, or the unit not keeping up.

Maintenance is pretty straightforward, but it has to be done regularly:

  • Clean the filters so airflow isn’t restricted
  • Keep the coils clear so the system can transfer heat properly
  • Make sure the drain line stays open so water has somewhere to go

If that stuff gets ignored, performance drops fast. The system runs longer, struggles to hit temperature, and that’s when bigger issues start showing up.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should a ductless mini-split be serviced?
At least once a year. In this area, many systems run year-round for both heating and cooling, so regular maintenance keeps them from losing performance.

Why is my ductless system leaking water?
Usually a clogged drain line. With the humidity in Connecticut, these systems remove a lot of moisture, and if the drain backs up, water has nowhere to go.

Why isn’t my mini-split cooling or heating properly?
Common causes are low refrigerant, dirty filters, or restricted airflow. Sometimes it’s a setup or communication issue between components.

Do ductless systems work in cold Connecticut winters?
Yes. Heat pump systems are designed to operate in low temperatures, but proper installation and placement are key to performance.

How long do ductless mini-splits last?
Typically 12–20 years depending on usage and maintenance. Systems that are serviced regularly tend to last longer.

Are ductless systems good for older homes?
Yes. They work well in many older homes across Connecticut and nearby New York communities where ductwork isn’t part of the original layout.

Can one system handle multiple rooms?
Yes. Multi-zone systems allow you to control multiple areas independently from one outdoor unit.

Do ductless systems require a lot of maintenance?
Not a lot, but it needs to be consistent. Filters should be cleaned regularly, and the system should be checked annually.

What are common problems with ductless systems?
Clogged drains, weak airflow, refrigerant issues, and communication errors between indoor and outdoor units.

How much does a ductless mini-split system cost?
Most installs range from a few thousand dollars for a single-zone system to significantly more for multi-zone setups. The more areas you’re conditioning, the higher the cost.

What affects the cost the most?
Number of zones is the biggest factor, along with system size, placement, electrical work, and installation complexity.

Is ductless more expensive than central AC?
It can be similar or slightly higher upfront, especially for multi-zone systems. But you avoid adding ductwork and get better control over each space.

Do you offer financing for ductless systems?
Yes. Financing is available so you can install now and pay over time with manageable monthly payments.

What areas do you serve for ductless mini-split services?
We install and service ductless systems not only in Bridgeport where we are based but also across Fairfield County, as well as Westchester, Putnam, and Dutchess Counties in New York.

What Are Ductless Mini-Splits & How Do They Work?

A ductless mini-split is a special kind of heat pump that’s engineered to deliver air conditioning (and heating) to rooms, additions, and outbuildings where installing traditional ductwork would be impossible or cost-prohibitive. Instead of moving chilled or heated air through ductwork, ductless mini-splits use narrow copper tubing that’s filled with a refrigerant liquid to move heat energy between the space and the outdoor air.

Just like traditional heat pumps and air conditioners, ductless mini-splits have outdoor and indoor units that are connected by that copper tubing. During summertime heat waves, the outdoor unit uses a fan and compressor to dissipate heat energy from your indoor spaces. When the outdoor air is chilly, the outdoor unit captures the heat energy that’s always available and moves it indoors to provide heat. And because ductless mini-splits use a copper tube that fits through a small hole in the wall, you don’t need to worry about adding ductwork to get the comfort you desire.

Situations That Are Ideal For Ductless Mini-Splits From Alliance

Alliance Heating and Air Conditioning’s team loves ductless mini-split systems because they help us make homeowners more comfortable, even in challenging situations like these:

  • Adding on to your home can be a significant investment, and being forced to install complete ductwork for cooling and heating can bust your budget or interfere with your plans. The flexibility of ductless mini-splits makes them ideal for situations like this.
  • Extending comfort to garages and sheds. Hate using your garage or workshop when the weather’s really hot or downright frosty? A ductless mini-split system provides affordable year-round comfort so you can get more use from your space.
  • Frustrating rooms. Often, even the best-bult New York and Connecticut homes have at least one room that’s always too hot or that never gets warm. A ductless mini-split may offer an easy way to address that common problem.
  • Cooling older homes. People who appreciate historic residences are sometimes forced to do without the creature comforts you’ll find in newer homes, because they lack adaptable ductwork. Ductless mini-splits can get around that issue.
  • Nobody agrees. If your family is one of those where one person is always complaining about being hot and another is always shivering, ductless mini-splits can allow you to customize comfort to their individual needs.
